Hi there I’m lacing up my running shoes to help the Leukaemia Foundation beat blood cancer in this year’s Blackmores Sydney Running Festival. This will be my first full marathon since 1978. (42kl) In the past 18 months I have completed 8 half marathons (21 to 24kl) and a few 10 kl runs. The aim is to win my age group, which is possible, but the main aim is to finish. A lot of training goes into these runs , and at my age injury is always a worry. But I will give it my all, and intend to retire from running when I am 86. In my first run back I was beaten by 5 min by and old chap who was 86, I met him at the finish and told him that he was amazing...he just said...yes I know. I want to do this to some young person in 21 years time at the same Great Ocean Road Marathon. We are planning to do the Amsterdam run in 2020 and The Flanders Fields Marathon also in 2020. When you loose someone you love you understand it’s not what you take with you , it’s what you leave behind. Every day, 35 Australian children and adults are told they have blood cancer. Your donation, big or small, will help support Aussie families when a loved one is diagnosed. My fundraising target is $500 - will you help me. Thank you. Your support is amazing! Anthony.
