The positive impact that exercise can make on one's mental health has been scientifically proven and something I personally believe it. Running for me clears my mind, lets me daydream and think clearer about anything. Almost like mediation. Mental health (anxiety, depression) affects everyone differently. I don't think anyone is immune to it. For those who struggle to overcome it (eg through running, meditation, reading) it's important to talk about it, to reach out.
